My story
Coming home to myself
I think I always knew. It was there in small moments growing up — a feeling I couldn't name yet, and later, one I was afraid to say. So I got good at being careful. Careful with my words, careful with who I looked at, careful with how much of myself I let people see.
Being careful kept me safe, but it also kept me small. I smiled at weddings and family dinners while quietly carrying something heavy. I wondered if the people I loved would still love me if they knew.
“The day I said it out loud, the weight I'd carried for years simply wasn't there anymore.”
So here it is, plainly: I'm gay. I'm not sharing this because anything about me has changed — I'm the same Sonu you've always known. I'm sharing it because I'm done living half a life. I want to laugh louder, love openly, and walk into every room as all of me.
This isn't an ending or a confession. It's a celebration.
